Duane Tribune Guitarist Duane Tribune is a guitarist and one of the newest members of UJC. His abilities as a guitar player have given him the opportunity to be exposed to and play many styles of music. Tribune states his journey began as a little boy who was fascinated with music. He began to experiment with various instruments while in school. One day a friend introduced him to the guitar. From that day forward, he knew he had found the instrument that would help him fulfill his musical desires. “I started playing semi-professionally at 13 years old.” states Tribune. “The band I was in throughout junior high and high school played on the weekends. We also played in the bigger venues in Columbus, Ohio and had opportunities to open up for many acts when they came through. We even opened up for Sly and the Family Stone when they made their only central Ohio appearance”. Taking advantage of opportunities to travel across the country as a full-time musician with various bands, Tribune has also worked as a session musician. His studio experiences have given him the opportunity to function as a producer and engineer. Tribune also has a publishing/production company, Faith Movement Music, and is affiliated with BMI. He also has a solo CD titled “Spirit Dance” which was released in 2003 and available at cdbaby.com. Tribune has been influenced by many of the major guitarists of the day to include Chuck Loeb, Lee Ritenour, Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Walter Becker and Peter White. One can certainly hear these influences in his playing. A long time fan of Urban Jazz Coalition, Tribune stated, “I have known Phil Raney and Hector Maldonado for a long time and would “fill in” the guitar chair when ever they needed me. When the opportunity presented itself to become a member of the band I believed it to be an answer to prayer and jumped at the opportunity. I’m very excited to be part of a group like UJC. They have always been dedicated to their craft and it shows in what they’ve accomplished over the years”. Duane Tribune’s equipment line up: Sadowsky, Godin, Fender and Yamaha guitars, Fender amplifiers, Line6 effects. |
